The 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) mandates that a U.S. national security agency complete a formal audit of DJI by this date; if no audit is conducted, DJI will be automatically added to the FCC Covered List, triggering a ban on new imports, sales, and authorizations.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has already voted to strengthen its authority to enforce such bans, including the power to retroactively restrict previously approved devices and block subsidiaries or shell brands used to circumvent the ban.
Current Status: DJI drones remain legal to own and operate in the U.S. Existing drones will not be disabled or grounded, and recreational and commercial pilots can continue flying their current models.
However, the future of new DJI products is uncertain, with no new models being officially released in the U.S. market due to regulatory uncertainty.
Upcoming Deadline: The December 23, 2025, deadline for the audit is now less than two weeks away. As of December 2025, no federal agency has formally scheduled or begun the required security review, increasing the likelihood of an automatic ban.
DJI has publicly urged the government to initiate the audit, stating it is willing to cooperate and has "nothing to hide".
Potential Impact: If DJI is added to the FCC Covered List, new DJI drones will be blocked from import and sale, and future firmware updates, repairs, and parts may be restricted or delayed.

While no official ban has been enacted yet, the situation is rapidly approaching a critical point.
Therefore I don't care for the ban. Besides Amazon has free returns until Jan 31.
