Not sure how these plain "P12" ones are (maybe they just don't have PWM control?), but the P12 PWM PSTs have been my go-to for almost a decade now. 1 Noctua fan, or a 5pk of closely comparable ones for even less money? I like Noctua, but that's not a difficult choice.

Agree with Caleo. Also, just tried a 5 pack of the p12 pro pst and like the option of running quiet or getting lots of airflow. $27.74 which is a better deal than the p12 imho. I've tried the p12 max and liked that too

Well of course there's no PWM control: as clearly stated, these are the cheapo ones with only 3 pins (you need 4 for PWM).
NOT TROLLING. i'm running 4 dfs123812h-3000. two are glued together and the other pulls through a 120mm rad and theres one in the front of the cast dumping air in. are these quieter? do they move as much air. i'd like to quiet down a little. no fan controller so no need for pwm, i'm at full rpm baby. then i got 6 other 120's pulling in air from the bottom/front. the dfs's are running in line so that my rad doesn't have to really deal with warm case air as its like a windstream running in that tunnel to the back.
I have the 140mm version of this fan on a push pull config. One of the 3 warp in less than a year. I thought the clanking sound came from the radiator but found it was the fan hitting it that was the issue. Good thing it came with 5. Just swapped to the extra fan.

The lack of PWM control is definitely a negative. However, if you're only using these are case fans, you could always get a cheap fan controller if needed. The noise levels of these fans aren't exactly quite at full speed, but better than most. They're not Noctua level good, but as you said, they're not that far off. Noctua fans are generally quieter, but not exactly cost effective when compared to these.
I replaced the noisy and inefficient squirrel cage fan in the fireplace with case fans, and it's way better. Moves more air, more quietly, and more efficiently. Don't know why those expensive squirrel cage fans are a thing.
