This Cudy AX3000 is a budget WiFi 6 router that stands out for easy setup, OpenWrt support, and solid range in some homes. It has worked well with mesh extenders and can cover brick and basement layouts, while the stock firmware makes WireGuard VPN and VPN exceptions simple to manage. The main limits are the 2.5GbE WAN only, no 2.5GbE LAN or USB 3.0, and reports of a device limit around 32 clients on stock firmware. It looks like a practical low cost pick if you do not need heavy multi gigabit LAN use.
Home labs using OpenWrt, because it is flashable to stock OpenWrt and has a straightforward stock firmware UI for WireGuard VPN and VPN exceptions.
Households with fewer than 20 devices and no gaming, because it is easy to configure and can deliver better range than an older AC68U.
Brick-house owners adding an extender, because the router can provide great reception throughout a two-story basement home when paired and tuned for fast transition.
Shoppers wanting a basic Wi‑Fi 6 dual-band router, because it offers similar Wi‑Fi 6 features at a low price.
People expecting to use multi-gig wired speeds everywhere, because only the WAN port is 2.5GbE and the LAN ports are gigabit.
Large device-heavy homes, because stock firmware can hit a device limit around 32 and start acting slow and flaky.
Homes with unpredictable construction or weak signal paths, because range cannot be estimated reliably without testing and building materials can block Wi‑Fi.
Buyers needing USB storage or USB 3.0 features, because this model does not include USB 3.0.

are they the same except for color?
$39.99 for wifi 6 dual band router is a good price. I paid $30 for a used tp-link router AX55 with the same features on ebay. The tp-link does have a good range. I don't know how that will be with Cudy. But it's notable that it has open wrt. If this deal was there few months ago, I would have bought and tried this.

Otherwise they look the same (CPU, memory). Up to the buyer if the 2.5GB WAN port is worth paying another $7.91, for the router at Amazon.
