Community Reviews
This Cudy AX3000 is a budget WiFi 6 router that stands out for easy setup, OpenWrt support, and solid range in some homes. It has worked well with mesh extenders and can cover brick and basement layouts, while the stock firmware makes WireGuard VPN and VPN exceptions simple to manage. The main limits are the 2.5GbE WAN only, no 2.5GbE LAN or USB 3.0, and reports of a device limit around 32 clients on stock firmware. It looks like a practical low cost pick if you do not need heavy multi gigabit LAN use.
Common Questions (6)
No. The 2.5GbE connection is on the WAN side only, while the LAN ports are 1GbE. That means you can't use 2.5GbE for a wired device on the router itself.
Range depends heavily on your home's materials and layout, so it can't be predicted reliably without testing. It has worked well in a two-story brick house with a basement when paired with an AX3000 extender, and another setup reported better range than an ASUS AC68U.
Yes. It has OpenWrt support, and the stock firmware includes a simple WireGuard VPN UI plus VPN exceptions. The tradeoff is that stock OpenWrt can be more cumbersome for those VPN features.
The Amazon white version has a 2.5Gb WAN and four 1Gb LAN ports, while the Best Buy black version has a 1Gb WAN and three 1Gb LAN ports. The Wi‑Fi 6 features and core specs otherwise appear the same.
It can run into a device limit around 32 devices, where performance may become slow or flaky. For smaller homes under about 20 devices, it has been reported as sufficient.
The Flint 2 MT6000 is the more powerful option and is expected to have longer OpenWrt community support, but it costs much more. This Cudy is positioned as the cheaper choice, with one comparison calling it about half the price of a Flint 2.

are they the same except for color?
$39.99 for wifi 6 dual band router is a good price. I paid $30 for a used tp-link router AX55 with the same features on ebay. The tp-link does have a good range. I don't know how that will be with Cudy. But it's notable that it has open wrt. If this deal was there few months ago, I would have bought and tried this.

Otherwise they look the same (CPU, memory). Up to the buyer if the 2.5GB WAN port is worth paying another $7.91, for the router at Amazon.
