Anyone have this? My icemaker in my fridge is nasty and would prefer to have some automatic maker for summer instead of using ice cube trays because those get used up so fast in this house

Self cleaning option is great. If you have hard water, you will want to use water from the grocery store, or a filter pitcher. None of these are really meant to run 24/7, even if the noise doesn't bother you. The best ones run 42db, around conversation loudness. It will make the ice, and melt, and go back into the water bin, and make more ice, there is no freezer per se in any of these table top ice makers. I make multiple batches of ice, and put in gallon zip lock bags. I like the bullet ice, over cubes and it doesn't stick together too bad like cubes or nugget ice. Nugget ice, you really can't do this with, as it remains very wet and will freeze in a solid block. One of the few items I spent on extended warranty, as they aren't very durable, but do work wall at making ice@ shake head

At least get the nugget type ice machine. These cone shaped one melt really quick and ice consistency is brittle compared to nugget type.

I got on of these for someone who did a TKR (Knee Replacement) and it was better to have the ice maker than buy store bought ice daily.
Same. I don't trust the ice makers from fridges anymore especially since they're not self contained and sealed to keep the smell from other things out.

Was considering the opal nugget ice makers but they have the same issues so unless you have disposable income on fancy ice, I think this cheap thing is fine.

These start to scale if you let it it sit for too long and don't watch for it. (We didn't since we weren't consuming it.)

We've ran ours 24/7 for about 3+ weeks with no problems.

I got those activ tablets to clean it.
