You have to consider that the more abrasive the toothpaste, the higher risk there is of adverse/premature enamel removal, so it may be better to pursue other means of periodic whitening (peroxide gels, strips, etc.) over using a polishing/abrasive-based method.
I would ask your dentist what he/she would recommend for you, I would venture to guess they would also recommend less abrasive toothpaste. HTH

ADA allows for more clinical improvement claims with that ingredient. IIRC it's allowed to say its for tooth sensitivity, cavity fighting, and improves gingivitis.
