Don't have hardside but I bought a softside carry on from this brand posted here for $20 3 years ago, only needed it for one trip but probably used it 30 times now with no issues

I wish they still made rear wheel only rollers, I'm not a big fan of spinner wheels when traveling to places with less even ground

Pretty good deal. I have one of these no-name spinner hardside luggages at Staples a few years ago, and it's held up for the past 2 years. Get another one as a backup. Much cheaper than the name-brand ones that are probably only slightly better quality than this one and several times more expensive. If you're an extensive traveler, maybe pass.

You can, but the suitcases will slide around when at rest (ie if you're on a steep slope)

It's cheap ABS, so it won't take a lot of abuse by luggage handlers before cracking. But since it's a carryon, you won't likely check it often or throw your own luggage down a flight of stairs. Probably a decent "disposable" option for regular folks who only fly occasionally.
