It's a ratio. With other bars, you can only consume 180 calories, and get 20 or even occasionally 30 g of protein. So it's the amount of protein per calorie. Like others mention, you also want to pay close attention to the sugar. Additionally, make sure the protein source is not from soy or soy isolate. And also keep an eye on the seed oils.
I wish these weren't so high in saturated fat, because otherwise the macros are quite good! Though unfortunately, only about 13g of that 20g of protein is bioavailable based on the DRV being only 27% vs the 40% a true 20g of protein would be labeled as.

Look at the percentage. If all 20g were bioavailability the percent would be 40%, as the DRV is 50g. But since it's only 27%, that means only a portion of it is bioavailable.
9g of sugar alcohol? How much GI irritation (bloating, gas, etc) is there from this?
It depends on your tolerance. It upset my coworker's stomach, but, I was completely fine.
I've been buying a bunch of different protein bars, I've to admit, this one tasted the best (closest to actual candy bar).
However, I've opted to go with simple ingredients protein bars like RX Bar and more recently, Rise.
One *potential* problem with RX bars is that date sugar. Make sure to brush your teeth *thoroughly* after consuming *any* date sugar because it sticks to teeth like a mofo! 😂

Good point! I like to eat it while drinking my hot coffee, so, it helps soften and dislodge the sticky date sugar. 😁
