It was an I7 but it is an 11th gen proc.
Did not come with Ram but I already have 32GB of ram to add into it before the crazy ram hikes same with the M.2 I already have a M.2 this is older hardware. Note it is DDR4 3200 you could do 2400 if you do not care if it is slower but that would be like 10 year old Ram tech. Add in Ram on top of the 170 and you are paying about 200 to 300 for new DDR4 3200 RAM at 64GB. add a 2 TB M.2 Drive and thats another 100 plus.
Just depends on your use case. Mine I just need another mini for my proxmox server, i already have ram and the m.2 and this thing has a 2.5GBE for the network so it will fit in great to the Prox Cluster and has plenty of power for a Plex server or Jelly Fin Server. Also great for just running docker containers. is ok for running a few VM's.
Desktop would be good for just messing around with apps, internet and the like. would not be so great for video editing or hard core gaming though.
