This is actually a good deal right now with current pricing of DDR5 RAM. I was planning on a AM5 9800x3D build. I would get a nicer cooler though.

This RAM has a XMP profile to help it plugandplay with Intel but no EXPO profile for AMD.
This mobo and RAM on not on each other's respective QVL.
So while they might sort of work together how well and with how much tinkering is unknown.

Thats kind of trashy to be pairing these then. I thought it was EXPO RAM.

It should be fine, I saw this on the product profile:
"4 x DDR5 Dual Channel (8400+ MT/s OC)* ... * 1DPC 1R Max. overclocking frequency 8400+ MT/s, supports AMD EXPO and Intel XMP."

This RAM kit is XMP-only (Intel profile).
However — and this is important — Ryzen 7000 and 9000 motherboards can load XMP profiles even when the RAM doesn't have EXPO.

✔ MSI motherboards (including X870E) support XMP on AMD

MSI calls the setting:

A-XMP

Or XMP Profile

So even if the RAM is not EXPO, your MSI board will read and apply the XMP profile automatically.

Is this statement true?

I hate ram prices right now... That said, this is a solid combo even with the potential ram "compatibility" issues

Yeah. I guess it's still $230 for the RAM in the combo. But if you need it now its better than $400. Lol

True. It's just wild how much worse the combos are vs just a few weeks ago. At some point it's just not worth upgrading.

Once every company realizes it doesn't make any sense to have 1000 different AI companies and once Micron/Crucial starts manufacturing memory specifically for a AI we will have overstock of DDR5 and ram prices should hopefully plummet, BUT I don't see that happening until late2026-early2027

You're pretty much just paying for the RAM

I dont know if thats true or not but u should be fine. Its just a 6400mhz cl 36 kit. Nothing fancy.
The other black corsair mobo memory deal cost less, 430. Ssme mobo same ram timings. So if you consider tomahawk is 230 and the cpu cooler is 50, the ram would cost 150 for a 32gb.
70 to 80 bucks more if u need the build now isnt a death blow compared to buying the ram alone.

It's like we're back in the days of RAMBUS. Minus the Intel proprietary IP.
