Seriously... Nintendo has stopped me from buying multiple games at this point because they offered GKC as an option. So dumb.

At least I have more space on my PS5... not to mention the option to add a ssd for ps4 games.

Dumb question, what's wrong with game-key cards? Only recently got into Nintendo switch with the switch 2 this month...

They are an illusion of a physical game. You might as well buy the digital version. Some people want to own physical games. Plus you can't resell them when you are done with it.

Imo nothing is wrong with a key card. It's basically I digital code on the cart. Insert card and it downloads the game. You need the cart in the play the game. Unlike digital, you can borrow and sell later on. People are too emotional about this. Saying they will buy a steam deck instead. Ok, so you are upset at this form of digital so you are going to a device that is only digital. Ps5 discs are installed to the hd and require the disc to play. Ps5 games are much larger than s2 games. My full 1 tb ps5 has less games installed than my s2 because games are so huge on the ps5. Carts for the s2 are more expansive because of the read/write speeds and they currently only come in one size compared to s1 that had a few different cart sizes available.

Not a fan of game key cards either, but they're definitely resellable...

But if Nintendo servers go belly up, no more downloads. But if Sony goes belly up, I can still install my PS5 disc on my PS5 and still play the game. That's the difference.

Thats the same situation as Switch 2 cards with the game in them. You made the false statement that key cards arent resellable, you got correctedand now youre saying shit that is not relevant. If Sony servers go up you cant reinstall your download able games.

You can still resell them. They are just an alternative for when the developer can't or doesn't feel like optimizing enough for it to fit on a card. You lose the benefit of using less storage but you keep the benefit of being able to resell.

The difference with steam digital is that they're not going to repackage and try to sell you the same game again in 20 years because the hardware you originally bought it on is obsolete. I can still play my HL2 that I was originally playing 20 years ago on a Pentium 4, on a brand new computer. I can look at those files on my computer that's not locked down, I can make backups if I want.

The big sell with for most people with physical is that you could resell them, but with these keys you have nothing you can preserve or back up. They took that so I don't really trust them not to keep taking more away.

This is mostly not true.

It's a bad compromise between physical and digital. Physical should let you play a game even if you don't have internet access. Digital should let you play a game even without a game cartridge. Key cards do neither of those things.

PS5 discs being installed has nothing to do with this. All the data is on the Blu Ray disc itself, which is the entire argument about physical. You don't need access to Sony's servers to play the game in the future.
