IIRC, when they did 12 days of giveaways last year, it went up to New Year's Eve. But I might be remembering that incorrectly.

Edit: They're giving away 17 games this year, through New Year's Day. Here's the schedule (according to GG.deals at least): https://gg.deals/freebie/17-epic-...s-in-2025/

The Dark Arts expansion is only $1.99 as well, great price!

I don't think you need to download the launcher to redeem, you can redeem it online via the browser. But if you want to play it you'll need to eventually install the launcher.

Hogwarts Legacy is a polished, immersive Harry Potter adventure that works well as a casual PC game, with strong castle atmosphere, smooth performance on modest hardware, and even achievements on Epic. The free Epic claim also includes the base game, and the Dark Arts expansion is discounted to $1.99, with a Fortnite Chocolate Frog Back Bling tied to two hours of play. The main drawbacks are its 90 GB install size and a later-game loop that can feel repetitive or vanilla, with some reports of checkout errors while Epic servers were overloaded. A solid way to grab the game if the claim page cooperates.

Folks, it's good till the 18th. No need to keep hitting the server all night long. ;-)

This is really bad advice on SD.

Can someone explain to this guy who only uses Steam, how can u get this to work? Is Epic another alternative to Steam?Sorry if that's a dumb question
Yeah it has its own platform and storefront, you could say it's a "competitor" if you could even call it a competition. make sure to disable "start on computer startup" to reduce bloat and it should be totally fine.

Any way to use this on a platform other than Windows?
You can use it in a Steam Deck (Linux) using the Heroic Launcher. It will play through Proton.

Dammit I paid $12 for the Steam version couple months ago lol. I might finally install the Epic launcher for the backlog of free games now.

This post is the reason why I couldn't claim this frigging game! LOL
After 20 minutes of hell I managed to add it to my library.
Relax guy!!!!!
Pretty sure The Game Awards had a *slightly* bigger impact than a Slickdeals post with a couple comments.
