I own several high speed Traxxas RCs, I can tell you more metal just makes crashes more catastrophic as the shock is transferred to more and more parts that bend and warp rather than a clean break in 1 spot. As first commentor mentioned though, nothing will be replaceable in this anyways, so it's a moot point.

I wasn't disappointed. Just jumped it off my deck into my snow filled yard. As long as I didn't stop, it ripped through the snow. Can't speak on longevity but I'm letting it dry now. Already had $60 bucks worth of fun

seriously and especially at this price point. so many goofy RC sets in the stores. you can now go onto walmart or amazon and pick a price point and the options are now insane. started my son on a $100 1/16th on amazon that is still going strong, just ordered a $160 drifter truck with insane features. hope he shows interest in a climber next.

The product video does not appear to go 40mph AT ALL. If I were to guess, that thing seemed to top out at 6-8mph.

Most brushless hobby grade like this easily reach 30mph..I wouldn't be surprised if this touches 40mph.

This truck should hit 40 on 3s. It comes with a 2s with a deans T-plug so you can easily throw a 3s battery in. But keep in mind this is a small 16th scale so 30 -40 mph is fast.

If this isn't a good option, can anyone experienced recommend a good starter RC for dudes who aren't serious about the hobby and just want to mess around with a fun toy for a bit? Looking for something fast enough to be fun for an adult, won't disintegrate after a crash or two (or at least has readily available replacement parts), and won't break the bank. Does this exist or is it just a super expensive hobby?
