It seems this would have been a price cap by Apple and that could be reason for them to add a GC instead of lowering the price

I grabbed an open-box excellent condition for $704 which still comes with the $25 gift card.
Purchase date was Nov 28 so warranty valid through Nov 28, 2026, and 48 days still available for AppleCare purchase. End of year is always good for grabbing recent purchase/returns at BestBuy which essentially have the full warranty in tact.

There was cb back then. Cap1 was offering 30% to some user and I was getting 26%. Although I would have to talk to them again to investigate but that is a shtshw how cap1 works

I just got an open box and it didn't come with the $25 GC. Mine was a good condition one for $680.

I bought online for in-store pickup. Did you buy in the store or order online? I've received the gift card via email as soon as I picked up.

I've been debating a first Mac. How much better or more useful is the 15" over the 13"?

Always been a Windows guy.

Should I switch to Mac OS? How good is Chrome browser on Mac? They are not deliberately slowing down Chrome to push Safari, right? My main work is done through Chrome. Multiple windows, countless tabs open simultaneously.

Currently on the latest XPS with i7 and 32gb RAM. Would this be an upgrade?

How hard is it to switch from Windows to Mac OS?

Would appreciate if someone could chip in

I messed around with a Macbook Air recently when I picked up one on Amazon's 30% off resale listings. There are some differences that take getting used to with the switch between Windows and MacOS. Nothing that can't be pretty easily learned though. I didn't notice Chrome being notably different/worse than it is on my windows box. Is it an upgrade from a current gen xps with 32gb ram? Probably not. The Air is light, very well built, and the screen is nice. That said, it's not going to do what you are describing any better than your current laptop.

I got one of these over BF. I had never personally owned a Mac and last time I used one was about 15 years ago in school. I got it because I wanted a small/portable/battery efficient solution for my photography during travel/vacation/etc. The software I use makes good use of Apple's neural cores so I don't give up much in terms of my day to day performance since otherwise I'm just doing browsing and maybe some spreadsheets/Excel with it.

Definitely takes some adjustment to learn the OS, the UI, different keyboard shortcuts, etc. but nothing crazy. Chrome seems the same to me.

One quick benefit that I wasn't planning on is that I have an iPad and there is some pretty seemless integration to quickly set it up as a wireless second monitor.

I've generally been anti-apple for many years but I will say I'm pretty pleased once I took off my anti-apple glasses and gave it an honest chance. The M4 chip so far seems like a pretty impressive balance of performance vs. battery efficiency.

I refunded at Best Buy and all my points stayed, paid out, transferred.

Depends on your use mode. For traveling and portability (using on my lap in the house and carrying around on the go), I prefer the 13". If you plan to have multiple windows up a the same time, the extra real-estate on the 15" would be beneficial.

I'd recommend going to a store and checking out both sizes.
