I would recommend getting the Play and Charge Kit [amazon.com] for a few bucks more versus the single battery. You get two batteries for $13. This works great for folks that have the Power A chargers.

I simply bought a smart battery recharger for 30 bucks off of Amazon and a handful of quality AA and AAA batteries (e.g. Eneloop). This works great for all my remotes, controllers, keyboards, mice etc.

The cost of this rechargeable battery out weighs the benefits. It also costs money to recharge 1500 mah batteries. $10 worth of AA alkaline batteries, 20-40 count, can last 5 years of game play. The rechargeable batteries will be at 70-80% capacity or worse in 5 years.

I would recommend getting the Play and Charge Kit [amazon.com] for a few bucks more versus the single battery. You get two batteries for $13. This works great for folks that have the Power A chargers.

Gamers are different. It not bad to have choices. I prefer AA batteries but do appreciate the inexpensive convenience plug n play option.

I completely agree. The set that you linked is great. For me, these are better for my kids as they are less likely to lose or accidentally throw out the battery pack.

Not bad for the price but to me Eneloops are just more convenient and I never have to worry about a lithium battery swelling or dying out.

Honestly I would not recommend NiMH batteries for Xbox controllers now that rechargeable Lithium AAs exist. The issue is that NiMH naturally discharges over time and the voltage goes down as it does. This leads to you picking up the controller after leaving it off for a week and having what appears to be a dead battery when in reality it is just below 70% and the voltage dropped below the required 1.2 volts needed to power the controller.
I ended up switching to rechargeable lithium AAs (Mupoer is the brand I got) which maintain 1.5 volts from full to empty so they last way longer in actual use compared to the eneloops and plug and play kits I had tried before. They also don't have the natural drain issue that you see for reviews of NiMH packs for Xbox.

I have these as well as the stand that charges two controllers at a time. Anyone else have issues that after awhile they stop charging on the stand and just flash orange light vs solid for charging?

Bought a 2 pack bundle of this for $14. Little bit less capacity compared to first party but still good. Most important is official licensed by Xbox.

Yeah, I bought the play and charge 2 pack for $13 last week and it's great. I've been paying a few hours a day for 7ish days and it hasn't died yet. I have been using rechargeable enelopp batteries, but we travel a lot with our controllers and it's annoying to pack and potentially lose the wall charger, and or not have the charger and have to go to dollar tree to get some cheap batteries any way. These plug and charge while you play, so no downtime or kids trying to load batteries in backwards etc. The convenience factor makes these better than loose rechargeables.

We also have the stand style charger set but my wife travelled with her controller and didn't think to take the stand, and it also doesn't really support charge and play unless you have spare batteries. So, we will use these plug style ones for travelling and stand style for home. But, eventually switch them all to this plug style.

Pretty good deal but the capacity is about half what you'd get from a set of eneloops, so it's really a tradeoff between convenience and runtime.
