This says PC and Android, but it also works with the Switch 1 and 2. For the Switch 2, you need to upgrade the firmware with a tool you download from 8bitdo's website.

Got this during BF used like new for $35. Had to update firmware over PC to work on switch. The GR/GL buttons on bottom don't natively work with switch. You have to bind them yourself with profiles. Only official Nintendo pro controller GR GL works. I haven't tested wake function as I don't dock switch 2.

Is this in any way inferior for using with the switch 2 than the version of this controller that specifically states it is for the switch 2?
I have this controller. It's great for the price with the TMR joysticks. It is a little smaller than I would like and prefer the more flared handles of a regular Xbox controller. You're not able to bind keyboard keys to the paddle buttons without using additional software.

Not in my experience. I have the original version of this controller. The switch version simply uses bluetooth to connect and these models use the included 2.4ghz dongle to connect to the Switch. I'm not up to date on current Bluetooth standards and if controllers are even using the latest, but 2.4ghz is usually preferred to connect to peripherals instead of bluetooth. I know I prefer using my NuPhy's dongle to connect to my tablet instead of bluetooth as it's more reliable. You can plug a USB hub into one of the Switches usb ports and connect up to 4 dongles I believe.

FYI, my understanding is that it does not directly support the Switch's motion control. The Ultimate 2 Bluetooth supposedly does.
Not sure what you mean. It absolutely supports the switch motion controls. I played multiple games on switch 2 using this controller. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to start it while pressing the Y button to get it into switch mode. And of course you need the latest firmware. And you need to have the usb dongle connected. Motion controls work perfectly with switch 2. The only real problem I've had is that while playing donkey Kong bananza, the controller would not honor the in-game controller rumble settings. But I read that's a problem with the game and all 3rd-party controllers are impacted. The controller would just rumble all the time. I couldn't turn it off using in-game settings. So I had to turn it off in the 8bitdo controller settings. Side note - best part of this controller is that after the firmware iPad ate you can start it in direct mode by stating it while pressing the B button. Steam recognizes this controller natively. So you get gyro along with analog triggers, which has been a problem for many controllers.
This controller does not support Nintendo Switch via Bluetooth, so if you plan to play with it off the dock you will need to use a dongle to plug in the provided wireless adapter. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller for Switch/Switch 2 (with black and white buttons and X on top) does support Switch via Bluetooth so no adapter required.
