No, 5W actually is the fast-charge speed for Apple Watch (series 7 and above). As long as it's a USB-C PD power adaptor of 20W or above (like the one this comes with), you'll get the fast-charge speed.

The regular, old, non- fast-charge speed for Apple Watch is 2.5W, and that applies for Series 6 or below (or, Series 7 or up using a charger that doesn't meet the above specs).
Any non- USB-C PD adaptors (such as older 5W USB-A adaptors like those that came with older iPhones), will not fast charge the fast-charge capable Apple watches.

I used the 6" version of this product and it didn't charge as quickly as the charger that came with the phone. I used the 20W included brick that came with it, but it was still slower than the stock charger. I ultimately returned mine and got a second Apple one instead. Not sure if mine was defective or if the 6" cable length makes a difference in charging speed? YMMV.

I purchased the 3.3ft version of this a few weeks ago and it was working as well as the stock Apple one for my series 7 watch. I used an energy monitoring plug and it roughly followed the same pattern and hit the same peaks as the stock Apple usb-c cable and brick. The peak wattage was always under 5w.

However, I recently purchased a series 11 watch and that thing will hit just under 7w with the stock charger. I haven't tried it with this one yet. The series 10 and 11 both advertise faster charging speeds than 7-9.

For 10/11: "Up to 80% charge in about 30 minutes"
For 7/8/9: "0–80% in 45 minutes"
