This Sonos bundle centers on the Arc Ultra, Sub 4, and two Era 100s, and the strongest draw is its clean, wireless home theater setup with standout clarity for movies, music, and dialogue. The Sub 4 adds powerful, accurate bass, and the system is easy to set up in the Sonos app with HDMI eARC and room tuning. The main tradeoffs are price and value versus Samsung, Bose, or a wired receiver setup, plus the Era 100 rears are not Atmos speakers. Coupon and pricing glitches also showed up for some carts.

How this compare to the HWQ990F? I've seen the reviews, I'd like you guys opinion. Thanks
This depends on your use. For a focus on movies or price point, Samsung is the way to go. If you want this more for music, then Sonos is the way to go. The other potential benefit for Sonos is that you can add or subtract parts to the whole system setup AND you can do some kind of setup that can transfer what your doing to another room.

Also another minor point is that back 2 or 3 years ago, SONOS strictly only had an app for apple phones. Don't know if they changed that since then.

I forgot to add that this bass from SONOS is waaaay more powerful, but if you live in a town home or in an apt, you obviously can't flex that unless you're an asshole.

Honest question: I have floor-standing Definitive Technology speakers (a low-high-end 7.4 system). It is very nice, but it takes up space in the den. Can Sonos produce almost as good a sound? Are floor-standing speakers dead, except for the high-end market?
General rule of thumb for sound systems is that if you can fit it, you want the bigger sized stuff because the good components just need the space. Soundbars are a great alternative but they can only fit in so much in such a small footprint. It's very similar to computers vs laptops, in that sense.

I'll take the s.
You realize you can get two JBL 690s ($998), a 12" Klipsch Reference R-12SW ($229), and a JBL MA310 receiver ($220 - upgrade to the MA510 for $100 more) for less than what you are paying on a sound bar. And with option A, you can always add a center, rears, second sub...
Haters gonna hate, but at some point you are paying for the brand more than the end user experience.

I got tired of all the wires and wanted something with more style, Sonos is simpler to operate and a much cleaner/minimalist install. Giant tower speakers and a center channel just don't work for me anymore, also most people cannot operate a receiver so easier for other household members.

I went from a nice atmos onkyo receiver and a 5.1 setup of klipsch synergy S3's to the first Arc, Sub 4, Era 300's and really love the sound and setup. If you're ok with all the wires and complexity you can def get better sound, but not worth the cost and space to me.

Well shit….i really want this.
I have the regular Arc with Ones in the rear and the sub, and it's fantastic. I can imagine what this sounds like.

Is this actually worth the high price tag? Anyone own one?
Me!

Well, the slightly older version of this setup. It's one of the best soundbar setups you can buy.

Yeah, there's more to it than that. You have seemless integration with the app, can play different content in different parts of the house, and it's completely network based (no wires other than a power cable...and an HDMI cable for the soundbar). It's not the same thing.

Thanks, in for one!

I had ordered the Q990D with the EPP discount for like $620 when that was on here recently but then Samsung did the whole order cancellation thing and their customer service was otherwise useless about resolving the situation so I figured I'd jump on this instead.

Im guessing the big win here is wireless and smaller form factor? There were some good deals on klipsch speakers i saw pass through here. Assuming those are better quality if you can deal with wires and a bigger footprint?

I miss when stores used to just carry loads of sound EQ. Hard to get a good idea of how these things all compare.

Totally respect the family members not being able to operate a receiver. 😹

I'm down voted team 3.1 for the value. 99% of content is either authored in 2.1 or mono. Rears are cool, but content that leverages it is very limited. Atmos 7.2 is even worse. You'll have some forum bruhs pumping their chests over it, but almost all mainstream music is 2.0. To me, subwoofers drop off significantly - range bound, additional bass power just takes away from the remaining mid to high.
I did do an experiment where I used ceiling facing Atmos speakers as rears, and that occasionally was beneficial. Again - most content isn't even 5.1 in 2025. That cleaned up the speaker wire issue, as running speaker cables through wires is a pain or expensive. And running them on the floor and just throwing a rug over it will either piss the wife off or give the cat something to play with. 😹
I'm not bashing on this product. I'm just trying to make people realize that good speakers can last decades, and sound bars will get out of date or have electronics that fail. Invest once in a nice set of mains and a nice center and you're set. The sound bar will eventually fail or be deprecated by evolving technology. But speakers currently can reproduce almost perfectly the range of hearable sound, so the only real areas to improve are form factor and aesthetics.

All of this is handled by the receiver. The difference here, again, is that if the sound bar goes bad, you lose everything. Left with eWaste. If the receiver goes bad, you can likely upgrade it to something newer without having to replace the remaining sound system.
