What are you looking to do with a pi? And which pi?

Not an expert by any means but depending on what you're expecting to use it for this could be a cheaper (depending if you also need to buy the power supply, SD card, keyboard and mouse, monitor) and portable replacement.

A headless setup, for example for pivpn etc. basically I am looking at it in a way whether to buy a new raspberry pi 5 and peripherals or use this laptop instead

Pi 5 offers better specs than this. I think this Chromebook is more comparable to a pi4. But for headless I think a pi would be better simply for the LAN port. Both the 4 and 5 have gigabit. I did read a Reddit post that said the pi4 is more than capable of handling pivpn.

Got one a few weeks ago here and it was in perfect shape.

Great performance and I put in "Write+" from the Play Store on it for offline writing. That Android app extends to full screen on a Chromebook.

Support dies next summer, but by that time I am pretty sure I'll be convinced to buy a newer higher spec one.
