This Legion Pro 7i stands out as a high end gaming laptop with an RTX 5080, 240Hz OLED display, and strong battery life for a machine this powerful. The 5080 is a major step up from the 5070 Ti alternative, and the 16GB of VRAM is seen as a solid floor for gaming and AI work. The 64GB memory configuration is useful for mixed work and gaming, especially for tasks like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 or photo and video editing. The main tradeoff is size and power, since it is heavy and the power brick is heavy too. A strong fit if you want desktop class performance in a portable Windows machine.

  • work-and-gaming users who want to stay plugged in for the best performance because commenters say "some of us do work, as well as game" and that 64GB RAM is very useful for that mixed workload.

    BillyMumphry

  • photo/video editors who plan to expand storage and memory because one buyer said they upgraded immediately to 96GB RAM and 12TB SSDs for photo and video editing.

    rswoan

  • people who care about non-gaming battery life while still gaming because a commenter switching from an HX3D/5080 variant reported non-gaming battery life was under 2 hours on HX3D, while the new 7i/5080 variant's battery life is much better and gaming difference wasn't noticeable without a frame counter.

    Rpost

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 players who want extra headroom because a commenter specifically said "64 gigs is helpful for msfs 2024."

    Jejunum

  • gamers who only need standard gaming RAM and don't want to pay extra for it because one commenter argued the deal isn't worth it since it only has 32GB RAM (they paid for 64GB elsewhere) and another pushed back that 90% of gamers don't need 64GB.

    FlatWhite1302Vigilante375

  • buyers who are comparing against a similar model with a different GPU tier because commenters warned that the linked alternative has a 5070 Ti while this deal has a 5080, calling it a "world of difference."

    Dr.W

  • people expecting a MacBook-style experience (lightweight, low power, mostly unplugged) because commenters said this is a gaming laptop that's heavy and "needs to be connected to the power brick," with power-hungry CPU/GPU and a different use case than a MacBook Pro.

Did the Lenovo one have 64GB?
Didn't see the 64GB on this deal but no, the other one was 32GB. Still 32GB is more than enough for anyone to play games with.

I dont think any Lenovo deals had the 64gb ram and 2tb storage down to $2k unless you snagged the few refurbished ones they had at that price.
Not refurbished. They were brand new with 32GB and 2TB. Heres the proof:

https://slickdeals.net/f/18926815-lenovo-legion-pro-7i-gen-10-laptop-bundle-16-qhd-240hz-rtx-5080-ul...

https://slickdeals.net/f/18849919-lenovo-legion-pro-7-gen-10-16-oled-rtx-5080-amd-ryzen-9-9955hx3d-2...

And 64GB RAM is just a show off piece. 32GB RAM is more than enough for any gamer.

Plus slap on the 10% back from certain cash back websites and that price would go down another $200.

I got the Lenovo direct deal sweetened with a shopping portal but I immediately upgraded to 96GB and 12TB SSDs because I'm using for photo and video editing. Dang the power brick is heavy.

16gb of VRAM is nice. That's the floor these days IMO. Certainly for AI endeavors.
