This Legion Pro 7i stands out as a high end gaming laptop with an RTX 5080, 240Hz OLED display, and strong battery life for a machine this powerful. The 5080 is a major step up from the 5070 Ti alternative, and the 16GB of VRAM is seen as a solid floor for gaming and AI work. The 64GB memory configuration is useful for mixed work and gaming, especially for tasks like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 or photo and video editing. The main tradeoff is size and power, since it is heavy and the power brick is heavy too. A strong fit if you want desktop class performance in a portable Windows machine.
The 7i with the RTX 5080 can deliver much better non-gaming battery life than an HX3D/5080 7 Pro variant.
The Legion setup is positioned as a gaming-focused machine that stays plugged in for most use cases.
Lenovo outlet pricing can be reduced further with a DEC15OUTLET code.
A Phoenix opening discount reportedly provided an extra 10% off Micro Center's already high pricing.
The 32GB RAM configuration may still be enough for gaming, but it may not satisfy buyers who specifically paid for 64GB.
The power brick can be heavy, which can make the laptop less convenient for frequent unplugged use.
The deal can be less compelling if the configuration includes only 32GB RAM instead of 64GB.
The RTX 5080 deal can be a major difference versus linked alternatives that use a 5070 Ti GPU.

This is a gaming laptop. It has 240Hz OLED screen, power hungry GPU and CPU, Windows. It's heavy, needs to be connected to the power brick which is also super heavy.
Macbook pro is light and sips power. It doesn't have OLED screen. It cannot run most of the games. Is aimed for a completely different use case.
You'd spend 99% of the time on the Legion gaming or watching videos connected to the charger.
