This is way cheaper than even super beat up used M1 iPad. It happens to handle memory pressure far better than you would expect. Within reason you can do multi tasking, zoom meetings, web, video, streaming services etc with snappy results and with good battery life.

Considering this includes iWork suite and GarageBand, it's pretty decent value for the budget limited and without any storage requirements.

Then you were asleep 2020-2021.

It was the base on the original. Just use a Thunderbolt SSD. Preserves the health of the soldered down internal one anyway.

I have this machine since day one and still fast has the day I bought it. No memory issue. Also have a desktop with 96gb and never had the need to jump on my desktop to do something I couldnt do on my mac other than gaming.
