I believe that the "tornado" feature is just two/three larger openings under the rim of the bowl that face sideways to force the water to spin around the sides, as opposed to other toilets that have downward facing holes. So the only way for it to break would be for the bowl itself to break.

I wish Costco sold the standard height Toto drake. The comfort height they sell is too high unless you pair it with a squatty potty.

I have 2 drakes installed and one more, the old toilets would clog and take forever to flush. Haven't had a single issue with drakes in 2 years. Our master isn't a drake and has also been fine, but really just get a toilet that isn't bottom of the barrel

nice looking toilet. Is toto a good brand?
Absolutely. They use them everywhere in Japan, especially the bidet versions. I would get one if I could

Bought it and then almost panic cancelled due to concerns about 1.6 gpf vs 1.28, as well as the supposed smaller trap size of Costco version vs HD/Lowes. Comments here and on Reddit really shit on (hehe) how inferior the 1.28 is.

Now take this with a grain of salt, but researching actual plumbing forums, the difference in actual flushing power is very small for 1.6 vs 1.28. It's more about the bowl rinse, 1.6 is a bit better there. But according to them, you can achieve most of the 1.6 rinsing power on the 1.28 by simply holding the handle down. So extra rinsing power when I need it and saving water otherwise, sounds good to me... that alleviated my biggest concern.

As for the supposed smaller trap size, our family doesn't clog even our crappy old toilets so I think we'll be alright in that department.

My son would clog the toilet at least weekly. I got a different brand bidet toilet with map 1000 assisted flushing and he has not clogged it at all. I paid a ton for that toilet, but the lack of clogging was worth it.

However, I may go with this Toto toilet for my 2nd bathroom.
I used to have a pressure assisted badboy in my previous home. I freaking loved it because it never clogged. But it was so loud that if we were in the patio - and someone flushed in the house, you can hear it.

These are amazing, especially when you pair it with the Toto washlet bidet

Any issues with the Tornado Flush mechanism breaking?
The real benefit of the tornado design is that there really isn't a rim to have to clean under as with most toilets. Gotta get into the water inlet area but it's not some hidden area that's impossible to reach.

I tried to cancel my 3-toilet order from yesterday after receiving the $50 off $500 coupon in the email (see other thread), but it didn't work and then I got the shipping notification about an hour later.

Anyhoo, I tried to make a new order while attempting the failed cancellation, and noticed that this time the $130 off is only applied to two toilets instead of all the 3 in the shopping cart. My guess is costco is keeping track of the max 5 limit so it only allowed me the discount on 2 more. interesting...

In this case, you get what you pay for. Kohler is ok for sinks, and for their overpriced fixtures. Moen fixtures are good as well. I have plenty of both. But Toto owns the toilet space; I'll never buy anything else again. I've replaced everything with Toto at this point, and my last two build-outs were Toto from the start.
Kohler is fantastic, they sent me a replacement for a 12 year old kitchen faucet, no charge per lifetime warranty.

Can these accept the simple turn-valve bidets that attach under the seat with the seat's bolts?
I removed a toto drake seat and installed an A[pha GX wave bidet.

I installed 2 drakes and an One Piece Ultramax about 10 years ago. Never clog, I just replace the flappers as needed. Excellent toilets!

Toto is a Japanese toilet brand. When you hear about the crazy toilets that will wipe your butt for you, play music, etc, those are all Toto toilets.

The Drake is one of Toto's most basic toilet. They aren't the cheapest toilets out there, but they're reasonably priced and they perform very well and are very reliable. When I went to replace my toilet I decided to get a Toto Drake. I don't regret the choice, and as you can see from comments on here, they have an excellent reputation.

Do you have the pull up on the flusher to flush the toilet as opposed to down like most toilets ?
