Negative, you can drop in the last am5 cpu in there and 6060ti or 6070ti with hopefully lower or similar wattage and your good to go . Very upgradeable .

Even though I work in IT, I know jack shit about gaming PCs. Sounds like this is a great deal without having to build your own which I don't really want to do.

My son's budget gaming laptop fro 4-5 years ago doesn't play current gen games well at all. Hopefully this plays them just fine (don't need max settings) and it can be upgraded in the future, which sounds like it can be although PSU can be a PITA I'm reading.

Buyer beware - last time I bought an iBuyPower from Walmart, they just shipped me the wrong (inferior) PC and refused to replace it. I just had to return it to a store. Same thing happened to many others. Just double check that you actually receive the right computer.

So give us some clues, since this is going to be an Xmas present. Are the downgraded specs on the box or do I need to unpack, boot it up, then run systeminfo and diagnostics?

Mine had a QR code on the box that linked to the specs of the PC. The model # and graphics card were for a different computer. I only checked because other people in the thread said it happened to them. So I would just make sure the model numbers match up before you open it up.

I went with this one because it is $100 cheaper and UserBenchMark said the 5060Ti performs better

I can't imagine dropping near $1k on a gaming PC that didn't have at least a 12gb GPU. The CPU and memory are everything most people need, but the GPU is kinda weak, doesn't have VRAM to support modern AAA titles at higher settings. Further, the PSU is good for this build, but high wattage GPUs will be off the table for you if you upgrade. In short, this is kinda already outdated. This would be soooo much better for $1050 with a 16GB 5060 ti or 9060 xt.

I hate to be that guy, but if you're looking to play AAA games from the past few years at 1440P on high or ultra settings, maybe wait for a slightly upgraded build.

I'm sure someone out there will defend 8GB GPUs here - they're good for certain uses, I'm not denying that. If you just want to play older titles, if 1080P is your target resolution, or if you have a non-gaming application - have at it. Just know what you're getting here, and what you're not getting.

32GB DDR5 is obvious great with what's going on, and the CPU is plenty powerful. But the GPU is meh! I don't understand why so many prebuilds come with these 8GB GPUs right now. Also - I recently picked up a used ibuypower PC with a i7-9700k CPU for $200. Upgraded to 32gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 for $20 after selling the existing memory (buy low, sell high), and replaced the worn out AIO with an air cooler for $35. Bought a 9060 XT open-box at Microcenter for $311 (plus tax). Waiting for someone to buy the 8gb 2070 it came with to help pay for it. Currently getting 100+ FPS on 1440P ultra settings in Horizon Forbidden West. Cost is currently around $600, but that'll drop to $500 or less, once the old GPU sells. Obviously rebuilding a used PC is different from buying a new one, and I have a CPU that is at it's limit. But just to say you can DEFINITELY get 1440P ultra for less than $1k. Also, bragging a bit, I suppose...

Walmart still has the other deal going, 7800x3d with 5070 and 32gb RAM, 1TB nvme

It's more expensive at $1300 but probably worth it if you're looking to game at 1440p at high/ultra settings and want smoother gameplay.
