Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is getting the most praise for multiplayer, which feels improved and closer to Black Ops 2 and 3, while campaign co op is described as pretty good. The setting refresh also lands for some, and the game can still work well for casual play with friends or family. The biggest knocks are the always online requirement, frequent large updates, heavy storage use, and a campaign that is seen as weak or only okay. Some also feel it is too futuristic or too similar to Black Ops 6, making it a better fit if multiplayer is the main draw.
The multiplayer mode is described as improved and more stable than Black Ops 6's issues.
Campaign co-op is described as pretty good for playing together with others.
The game can still be enjoyable for casual co-op and social play with a non-gamer brother.
A practical rest-mode tip suggests background updates can run while the console is idle.
Frequent updates are criticized as taking more time than actual playing.
The game is criticized for being online-only with no checkpoints and no pause option.
The campaign is called among the worst in COD history, which can reduce overall appeal.
The futuristic movement and wall-jumping/Omnimovement are disliked, leading some players to skip BO7.
