Amazon has The Martian: A Novel by Andy Weir (Kindle eBook) on sale for $1.99.

Thanks to Deal Hunter phoinix for sharing this deal.

About this book:
  • Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
  • Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there.
  • After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
  • Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
  • But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Great book and a fun read. Most of the sciences in this fiction are pretty accurate. In my opinion, this will show you how tiny we are in this vast universe!

I was able to add audible narration for $5.45 in my browser, didn't see it in the app.

Such an amazing book and Ridley Scott so captured the ethos. Seen it so many times and still not sick of it.

I was lucky to find an audio CD recording of the original narrator, RC Bray, reading this book. I know who Wil Wheaton is and can't speak to his job on this book, but man, RC Bray's narration is the goat. I should download the sample and see what I think of this one.

I just finished listening to Project Hail Mary (after having read it a couple of years ago) and when the book was done it jumped to a teaser of the Martian. Personally not a fan of Will Wheaton's voice/narration. Perhaps coming directly from PHM which I thought the narrator did a great job plus having seen the film with Matt Damon so there was a certain expectation and Wheaton didn't deliver (however I admit it's only based on a short listen). I'd rather re-read the book than listen to him.
