The strongest thread takeaway is protein powder, especially Optimum Nutrition versus Kirkland Signature. ON gets praise for better taste, easy mixing, and strong value at 80 servings for $50, while Kirkland is described as decent but less flavorful and not as smooth. Flavor preferences lean toward chocolate and vanilla, with some favoring Ascent or Levels for cleaner ingredients and less artificial sweetness. A few caveats surface around water mixing, sweeteners, and lead concerns in protein powders, so the sale looks most appealing if taste and ingredient profile matter most.
Common Questions (6)
Optimum Nutrition and Kirkland Signature are close on quality and macros, so taste is the main tiebreaker. ON is often preferred for flavor and mixes well, while Kirkland is cheaper per serving and some find it less pleasant in water.
Regular users may want to check heavy-metal testing, especially with plant-based and chocolate powders, which can have higher lead levels. Third-party certifications like NSF Certified for Sport or Clean Label Project can help narrow safer options.
It mixes easily, but it tends to taste better with milk than with water. For water, using ice-cold liquid and a blender helps, and the Extreme Milk Chocolate formula was adjusted with creamer to make it more palatable in water.
Yes: the Costco tub is 80 servings for about $50, which makes the sale price strong value if you already like the flavor. It also has more servings than Kirkland's 70-serving tub, so the per-serving comparison favors ON when prices are similar.
Costco has a self-service price adjustment portal for Costco.com orders, and responses can take a few days. Costco usually allows price adjustments within 30 days, so it is worth submitting the request if the item drops soon after purchase.
The code is online-only and expires on January 18. It was received by members both with and without Executive status.
