The Oral-B iO Series 4 and 5 are premium electric toothbrushes with strong cleaning features, but the deal math and ownership costs matter. The brush can remember the last used mode or speed, and the Series 5 has been picked up for around $30 in a good promo. The main drawbacks are the higher cost of iO replacement heads, the awkward multi press startup for higher speeds, and a charger that can be too tall for some medicine cabinets. Walgreens Cash totals also appear inconsistent, with checkout results ranging from $25 to $40.
Common Questions (5)
The advertised $40 Walgreens Cash does not match the deal math some shoppers see at checkout. Reported totals include $25 in rewards cash from $10 + $15 offers, and another checkout showed $35 in Walgreens rewards cash after coupons.
Yes. The iO Series 3, 4, and 5 can start in the last-used mode or speed, and holding the power button for 3 seconds reportedly saves the chosen speed so it starts there next time.
Yes. iO brush heads are about 3x more expensive than standard Oral-B heads, which makes replacement costs a bigger part of ownership.
It may not. One report says the Series 4/5 is slightly taller than the previous version and will not fit in a medicine cabinet when placed on the charger.
The Series 4/5 is described as a step down from an older Oral-B because highest-speed brushing takes three button presses, replacement heads cost more, and the charger setup is slightly taller.

For one, if you want to brush at the highest speed, you have to press the button 3 times.
Secondly, the heads are much more expensive.
Third, it is just a little bit taller than the previous version (by a mm or two), and this one won't fit in my medicine cabinet when it's on the charger.

Edit: Just tried it. Holding it for 3 seconds shuts it down! :-(
