Just for informing parents and others that might not know. Switch 2 physical cartridge is a game key card. That means the game is actually not on the cartridge, just the license key authorizing the use of the game. You will need an internet connection to download the game to either the internal Switch 2 storage. If your Switch 2 doesn't have enough free storage space, then a Express SD Card would be needed to download and install the game.

The Switch 1 version of the cartridge has the game actually in it, no need for internet connection or downloading anything to play the game. I'm guessing that resale value eventually might be higher for the Switch 1 version than the Switch 2 physical version of the cartridge.

I don't like Game Key Cards, but don't have anything against them. If there is a market for them, there is nothing wrong with Nintendo selling to that market. But just wanted to inform those that might not know of game key cards.

I'm playing DQ1 on this set right now and I'm surprised at how much they've managed to add to the experience while making sure it still feels like DQ1
Highly recommend if you had Dragon Warrior through Nintendo Power in the 80s

Just a note that there is no free switch 2 upgrade for this game. This will play on a switch 2 but not with the quality the switch 2 version has. It does run better on the s2 but only to the 30fps cap and lower resolution caps. The s2 version has a 60fps option with higher resolutions

This is different from the III HD-2D remake which has a free switch 2 upgrade. It seems to download an entirely new version of the game at 8.2GB

I'm surprised why they offered the most ideal situation for III but for I&II decided to not offer an upgrade, not even a paid one, and use a game key card for the s2 version

Also found dragon quest 3 for $35

looks like it gets a free upgrade for Switch 2, as well as more content than the first two games combined.

What an annoying decision if you have a switch 2

1. Buy the switch 1 version because you get an actual game cart. However, you don't get the quality of the switch 2 version and the company doesn't even offer a paid upgrade for it. *

2. Buy the switch 2 version getting the best quality, however you end up with a game keycard.

*According to Dr the switch 1 version does run better on the switch 2 but the game is locked at 30fps, handheld 720p, and some not 4k docked res. The difference is on the s2 points in the game where it slowed down before 30fps are mostly gone
