That's all you need for beans at least.
For meat do that, then add in oregano, sage+fennel (to add a sausage flavor), plus whatever hot seasonings you like. Cook it all together with meat+oil+water, then cook off the extra water, and you're good.
Per meal, that seasoning mix is cheaper than this even, whether it's Aldi, dollar store, or Mexican market.
