I picked this up last month when it was $80 or whatever and am pleased with it. Perfect for baby's first espresso machine. The steam wand isn't the best but it makes decent espresso and is still going strong after being used several times a day for a month so far.

You want 9 bars of pressure. Not 20 bars. If you get into making and drinking espressos, this will kinda be like drinking Natty light as a first beer.

What's the noise level? And how easy is this to clean, I think these two are the biggest factors when comparing this to something like nespresso which I am trying to replace. I've been considering combo machines that has has espresso pod brew + espresso press + carafe drip coffee maker but I am not sure if I want to to spend $500 just so I have one machine. I like the idea of this, and $50 is not bad, but unless you go through the espresso ground coffee quickly, it will get stale quickly too, no? Still $50 is not bad.

indeed. This is a very low end machine, no over pressure valve, pressurized portafilter and so on. If you have a good grinder and good beans you could use it for making something resembling espresso after a lot of trial and error. Otherwise you can feed pre-ground off the shelf coffee which never produces good results.

Don't even go there. This machine isn't worth customizing. Either use it as is, or buy something else. I really dont know why double-spouted portafilters are even a thing anymore. Most people should be using naked portafilters. A naked portafilter and a decent basket would cost you more than this machine.

OK... I am not convinced about this product. I think if I was going CHEAP... I would get the https://www.delonghi.com/en-us/p/...0132104209

Unless I can find out if the boilder is made with what material? is the boiler painted? How long to heat up water? 20lbs of pressure... I thought 15lbs is what we all want?

I can tell you that the delonghi model has been proven.
