I paid $15 last year. This year I paid $26. I think I'll survive.

It's ridiculous the IRS doesn't just tell us what we owe or should receive. Software like this should be optional.

Switched over to freetaxusa 2 years ago. No regrets and never buying H&R Block again.

OK, I'll bite. Please explain for the audience how a bill from this year caused a problem that has been true for decades?

No regrets until they are hacked and all your info is made public. Or have my info sold (yes I know they say they don't but I've heard that before). I don't want to take that risk and I will pay to keep my info safe on my PC.

HR block lobbies to keep tax complicated and got rid of the free programs.

Use https://www.freetaxusa.com/. It's the same if not better and it's actually free for federal, state is only 15.99. Includes all forms.

We might have found a lower price point in the past, today? Since I've been doing taxes online(H & R Block, Taxslayer, ect) the software has been a steady $20-30 price range. I like H & R Block (after being a faithful Turbotax user) because it has an easy interface, easy to navigate for me. The option to get the State version (for a few dollars more ) is similar to past offerings; some had $15.00 USD rebate, gift card offers-wish these were still around!
Overall a deal that's probably not going to get any better, at a decent price-at least to do our taxes.

Look folks any server(even our personal devices) can be compromised. We each like different programs, options? I've tried lots of them, but I also would be reluctant to go through any "web-based," "browser" program. These cannot safeguard their service cannot be breached and misused. I can say my (probably yours as well) data has been accessed just this way already (google for how to do this-I did it but forgot the site).

The best deals on H&R Block are usually in mid/late February. There will definitely be something better than this. Just be patient...

Bigger refund will more than make up for the $11.00.

I want to get my return in and get my money back ASAP. Not worth waiting two months to save $10.00.

I share your concern. However, I think that when you e-file, your return is sent to H&R block and then to the government. H&R block stores your return on their servers, so in theory, they could be hacked too and expose your return, just like freetaxusa, for example. Now, if you only submit with paper, then you have a valid point, but I stopped doing that years ago.

I have just a couple of 1099 forms that come in, I forget but I thought I read somewhere that Deluxe was able to handle that and premium was overkill. Can anyone confirm?
