Crazy how all the stores start clearing stock before Christmas these days.

The same happens every year for Halloween. I would imagine that they don't want any stock after the holiday.

Got to hold out for the first day of 75% off... Then it'll be a mad rush before good stuff gets cleaned out.

That's because Christmas starts in like August now. People/companies fatigue the holidays out long before they even come.

Anyone know when Lowes goes to 75% or whatever the next step is? They have a bunch of trees in stock and we're in the market for a new one for next year, hoping they last until the next big cut.

For sure, I think companies also just have better tech with knowing how much to order to make sure it's gone by or shortly after Christmas. I remember years ago when Sears was still around getting 90% off because they still had stock a few weeks after.

My husband was just at our local Lowes and Lowes employee's were stocking up on Christmas decor marked down. Almost in a hoarding way.

Just 12-13 years ago, Target would still have Christmas merchandise on clearance around Martin Luthor King's birthday.

Nowadays stores do everything in their power to have all Christmas items gone by New Year's day.

What's funny is January is always the worst month for retail stores.

I was watching this closely after the 35% discount ended yesterday. I grabbed the tree I wanted first thing this morning. The trees are going fast at my store. From no movement the last few days to having sold over 100 this morning between the trees I was watching.

I checked right before lunch, and just about everythign showed out of stock.
Went into my local store and everything was in stock, everytyhing was 50% off, and well stocked.

I picked up two of the large LED multicolor 100 light rolls for $17 and i picked up one of those porch decorations for $28, its decent , i like it

I remember back in my college days getting a Christmas tree for like 5 bucks the week before Christmas there. It was a cut tree mind you, but they just wanted them gone

There are those who like the classic glow of the incandescent bulbs. However, LEDs offer more colors and have far fewer problems with bulbs going out. I tossed all my incandescents for that reason alone.

Exactly. The inventory and sales tracking now makes it that they follow the data to get rid of it all by the target holiday. They might be selling a chunk of it at 50% off of the starting price (which is extremely inflated, BTW), but that's better than getting past the holiday and either (a) taking up valuable shelf space in the hopes of selling it at 75%+ off, or (b) offloading it all to dollar store/reseller for like a 95% discount.

This way, they've got their shelves free, and they can start by late December stocking Valentine's Day stuff at inflated prices. A good number of people will buy it because it's in their face.
