I've 100%'d this game as an old fan of the series. As far as a sandbox game goes it's fine to drive around and cause general chaos, but there's nothing that makes it really stand out within the genre. The scenery is good but overall the sandbox feels very generic. The combat,story and mission structure however is not good at all.
This a far cry from Saints Row 2/3. The intended gritty reboot wound up more a cringey rehash.

It's honestly not that bad. It's a pretty good open world game. I just think that they got crazier and crazier with every game, and had nowhere to go, so now that this game is slightly more grounded in reality, people think that it sucks, or that it is woke. Well, the series has been "woke" from day one. You could play your main character as a black man, or a Latino man, or an Asian man. And, in the sequel, you could have your male character fully transition into a woman if you wanted. The start of the second game has you getting into an accident where you have to totally reconstruct how your character looks. Then, the fourth game makes your character canonically pansexual, as you can have sex with every single member on your crew, including a robot on your spaceship. You don't even have to make your main character a black woman in this game, you can customize her to be a white male if you want.
