Usually, they have a model 6000 or 6900 (I believe this is the one I have), which is downlevel from this one by one or two models. I paid $70 about a year ago.

I've been using Norelco rotary razors for decades. This is the best one by far. The blades are now self-sharpening (THESE ARE THE BLADES YOU WANT, not the older non-self sharpening) and so eventually, they will wear out. Costco no longer includes a 2nd set of blades as they used to.

Norelco offers a 60 day return if you don't like the razor and of course, Costco will take back almost any product up to 2 years old.
Thanks...can't find the 6900 new and I'm not a Costco member. I can find the 6000 but wonder how it compares?

Amazon frequently sells counterfeit Gillette blades, even directly from Amazon. I've also gotten counterfeits from Woot (an Amazon company). I'll never buy blades from them again. They rip and tug, even when brand new.

Stopped using double edge because no matter what I did there was always the occasional weeper. I got tired of having to be ultra careful with a double edge blade. Yes, I agree that if double edge works for you it's the way to go. So much cheaper and much sharper.

Not trying to change your mind, but the results vary significantly with different razors & blades.

Just checked, I have model 6000. Very happy with it! If you switch to electric, it takes 3-4 weeks to break the razor and your face in using it.

That could be a problem with cheaper razors, like Remington or Chinese ones. Then there is the question as to whether your razor was rotary or foil screen. I prefer rotary for a less harsh shave. Lastly, modern electric razors allow you to use shaving cream if you have sensitive skin or a tough beard.

Anyone have wierdness with the blades?
They cut well , but the lubricant strips are kinda melting and giving off a Flem like material
