For $29.50, I will try it, set it up, and see what happens. I already feed the birds and squirrels daily, so it will be interesting to try this one and see if the Solar works in Oregon with the rain and gray skies we get over the winter.

"AI" is an entire field (along with a bunch of marketing nonsense), not a single technology. Image classifiers aren't the same as resource-hungry generative AI.

"This smart bird feeder captures countless interesting moments and videos, storing them in the cloud for fr-ee for up to 30 days. You can extend the storage time by subscribing to cloud storage or by using a memory card."

This is from the cheaper blue version. This makes it sound like you can always view the last 30 days of footage for free but elsewhere it sounds like just the first 30 days of cloud storage are free.

Edit: Further down it says 30 days of free cloud service for all new users, but a 3 day loop cloud service for non subscribers.

This is cool but there's a free app that allows you to identify your birds by sound. Check out the Merlin Bird ID app.

I generally hear my birds b4 seeing them. It's actually kind of cool to see some bird like blue jays mimic predator bird calls to clear out the area so they can have those delicious peanuts all to themselves.

You couldn't have written one more sentence to tell us what the subscription fee was. Thanks a lot

Can use it with a SD card and still get bird only recording without paying for the subscription?

It seems like a good deal but if I can't do that I rather get a tapo camera and just put it next to the bird feeder

I'm sure people know this, but these have had a sudden and gigantic jump in "retail price" recently. Also, look for ones that have SD cards included so you don't have to purchase a subscription. I got one that included a SD card and had slightly better resolution for $40.
Which one did you get?

So then she should have no issues fitting 😁. Getting back to your question, though: for the blue feeder/camera someone posted above, it says "You can extend the storage time by subscribing to cloud storage or by using a memory card." My guess would be she should be able to view at any time and also record to SD

Prolly obvious but requires a subscription fee for the advanced app/AI features like most of these do.
Wasn't obvious to me at all. Thanks.
