Did a comparison with 2 friends, we all booked rides from same place to same place. I had the gift card credit, my other two friends did not. My fare was about 20 percent more than their fare. We tried it a few times, similar results. We would have wound up paying about the same overall .... I don't trust Uber pricing.

Yes Costco better deal, however, Costco has limit and then you have to wait. So this is great if you need something now until you're able to take advantage of Costco deal. Also, you have to factor in the price of a membership depending on how much you actually use the membership

With prime visa 5% cash back it is essentially same price as Costco.

I keep Prime Visa as the default payment on Amazon in case they offer 6-8% back for delayed shipping. If they don't, or if I need it sooner, I swap to a BoA custom rewards cash back card (5.25% for online purchases if platinum honors status, which is achieved by keeping 100k invested in a linked Merrill Lynch account). While BoA is capped at $2500 spending/quarter, you can get multiple cards (one custom rewards was a MC, now they have a Visa, or spouse gets one) to get around the cap.

That's a lot of work for 0.25% vs the prime visa base of 5%

Never seen it happen unless your talking surge pricing. I have a work phone that I pay for uber with corporate card and a personal phone with uber gift cards. Don't drive so use uber exclusively and never seen it with a price difference if a few dollars and that goes either way based on pricing changes. And that's for usual 40-50 dollar trips. Again don't drive so Uber exclusively and I travel every other week to another city so lots of comparison and live in New York

I have found that once you put a gift card on your uber or uber eats you will no longer get promos. Same if you enable uber one.
