Well aware of that as mentioned in the post. But that deal also only lasted for a couple of hours before Costco "sold out". I've been watching for another deal before my TV. I bought a black Friday arrives and this is the best I found. Just passing along for somebody who wants to save 10 bucks.

I know it's not an amazing deal. I pulled the trigger because my Black Friday TV arrives tomorrow and it was the piece missing for my setup.

I would go ahead and buy now but my worry is Apple is due to drop the next iteration of Apple TV "soon" (rumors have been saying this for months but Apple is probably milking the holiday season to get rid of old stock)

I don't want to regret the purchase if they release the new version right after and also don't want to abuse Costco's generous return policy.

I was actually in the exact same boat and had the exact same thought. And after I did all of the research, I decided that I have no idea if it's going to be launched the day after mine arrives or in eight months. I decided to get it now and if the new one drops in the next few months, I will use the return policy if it's more than six months I'll just keep it and stick it on another device if the upgrade is worth it.

Just grabbed the fire stick TV max for $30 for a guest bedroom and it's pretty dang good - the ambience mode is cool.

Having said that, we have like 4 or 5 ATVs and I solidly recommend them to anyone I can. Got a lot of them used - good / like new under $80 from Amz a year or two ago.
