Because this is available to everyone with free shipping. That $400 clearance in-store only was extremely YMMV and limited. There wasn't a single Sub available at that price at any of the 20+ Costco locations near me.

Great price for a great sub! I had one already for living room and got a second for basement from B&M Costco 2 months ago on clearance for 399.97. Was YMMV and luckily my local Costco had some let. Still well worth it at this price shipped. The Apple gift card is a nice bonus also.

Edit: $399.97 in store, not $499.97

Probably because it's not regional and works for everyone and is shipped despite being $100 more. This is still a great price. I was very happy with my $400 purchase. It's an amazing addition and the Sub 4 doesn't add much compared to the Sub 3
