Because this is available to everyone with free shipping. That $400 clearance in-store only was extremely YMMV and limited. There wasn't a single Sub available at that price at any of the 20+ Costco locations near me.

I found it underwhelming along with the sonos arc ultra when an old Klipsch soundbar+sub went bad. Returned both and replaced with a receiver and separate components for less money. Got a 10" martin logan sub for $470.

The sonos was a crapload easier to setup, I'll give it that.

Klipsch RP-440D and Dennon receiver. I'm not sure if the speaker is any better than the sonos but it does fit our space better. And I have a lot more flexibility as well as a few extra bucks in my pocket.

Definitely more impressed with the sub over the sonos though.

FWIW I bought a mini for my living room setup and was pretty surprised by it but then got a deal on the sub 3 and honestly haven't thought it was much better. I expected it to slam from reading the reviews but it's been underwhelming.

Check Bestbuy open box. I just got a open box sub gen 3 brand new for 300$ had to drive a hour to long Island but I took a chance and it was worth it.

This plus the $400 refurb Arc, or the Arc Ultra standalone (no sub)? I'm going back and forth. Not sure the Arc Ultra is worth over 2x more, especially if I can pair the Arc with a sub. I have heard a sub doesn't add that much to the Ultra.

Get this with the refurb Arc. There isn't a significant difference between it and the Arc Ultra for the money. But there is a significant improvement when adding a Sub 3 or 4 Gen.

Main differences between Gen 3 and 4:

Gen 4 has matte finish vs 3 has piano finish. Gen 4 has newer WiFi 6

But Gen 3 supports a wider range of older Sonos speakers (Play:1, Play:3, Play:5, Playbar). Gen 4 does not.
