Peet's Major Dickason's Blend is a dark roast ground coffee that lands at a strong promo price when the coupon, Subscribe and Save, and multibuy discount all apply. The deal can drop to about $16.13 before tax, and the coupon may need to be clipped after choosing Subscribe and Save. The main product feedback is split between rich dark roast appeal and a burnt, average taste, with some wishing it were whole bean instead of ground. A solid low price if you want this blend and do not need fresh grinding.

not. they over roast and it's decidedly nasty stuff vs quality coffee. this is what the real story of starbux and petes dark roasts. try philz at target wonder bar dark roast. 100 percent better stuff...
this quote about starbux applies to philz as well....and go to portland and try any of the local roaster's coffees. petes can't even hold a candle to it. but...go ahead continue drinking the very below average petes if it's all you want or can afford.
There are several reasons why Starbucks roasts its coffee beans so dark that they often taste burnt. For one, dark roast coffees pair better with milk and sugar than light ones, which tend to have more citrusy and acidic flavors that don't gel well with dairy. The complex flavors of a lighter roast also get smothered under the weight of milk, creams, syrups, and sugars, and considering Starbucks' repertoire with these, it may be an important reason why the chain chooses to stick to darker roasts. Plus, dark-roasted coffees brew quicker and can withstand higher temperatures better, making it easier for baristas to pull round after round of espresso from these beans.

I lived in PDX for a lot of my life. I enjoyed the coffee, but not enough to deal with the baristas who took pleasure deriding customers that just wanted a damn cup of coffee and didn't like being schooled on the Q-grader score or the Terroir of the beans. So I went back to drinking my home brew - using the money saved from not paying $10+tip for a cup of coffee... to buy beans from my single location local roaster.

Good deal though! I was able to get an additional 8% by choosing slower shipping speed.

the baristas in portland are some of the nicest i've ever encountered! not sure where you are paying 10 plus tip for a cup of coffee....... if pete's floats your boat then more power to you . there are much better options.
