Adding Snap Circuits to LEGO-style bricks is a great idea!

LOVE and bought essentially every Snap Circuits set (often multiple times) for my two children.

If there's two downsides to this particular set, they would be:
  • The instructions for the brick elements aren't exactly at the LEGO level
  • The plans can be a bit fragile, for both the brick and circuit elements (not unlike many of the 3D-type Snap Circuits sets)
Both of these challenges make this set better suited to an older kid who has already demonstrated some competency and enthusiasm for LEGO as well as the patience to accept builds that occasionally fall apart halfway through.

I'd usually recommend Snap Circuits Arcade as the gold standard first Snap Circuits set.

Good luck!
Jon

Snap Circuits Arcade is about $80 so do you think this "Bric" is still a good buy for starters or if I buy this now and Arcade later, will I have duplicates?

edit:
Looks like these are all on sale. Any suggestions for a beginner or should I go with the Arcade? TIA!
Snap Circuits BRIC: Structures | Brick & Electronics Exploration Kit [amazon.com] - $16.99
Snap Circuits Green Energy Electronics Exploration Kit [amazon.com] - $33.49
Snap Circuits Light Electronics Exploration Kit [amazon.com] - $24.99
TEACH TECH "Hydrobot Arm Kit", Hydraulic Kit [amazon.com] - $32.99
Snap Circuits Teach Tech Mech 5, Mechanical Coding Robot [amazon.com] - $15.99

Among the sets you identified, I'd strongly recommend Snap Circuits Light as the ideal starter set. The prices on these sets can vary wildly thanks to discounting (as evidenced in this thread). Within the last month the Arcade set was well under $40. The trick with Snap Circuits, as with so many slick deals, is to set a price alert and act fast when the discounted prices are being applied.

Good luck!

Thanks! I just missed the deal as the Light version is back to regular price. I did purchase the Green Energy kit but I forgot to check back for your reply.
Work got in the way!
