This does not have a microSD slot and cannot do on-camera SD recording and playback. It can only be used with a subscription. Without subscription, you are basically limited to live view and very basic notifications

Arlo keeps reducing its prices because their product require a subscription now . The appeal in the past was that they did not require subscription

Arlo also is forcing people with older Pro2 cameras to the newer cameras by making them not work with the latest mobile app....I just had to go through this ordeal where all 4 cameras that I have around my house stopped working all of a sudden after a software update....the spot lights stopped working like 6 months ago after a software update.

Also, the newer cameras do not record without a subscription plan or a smart hub which is $100 extra and requires a USB drive to record it locally. To view the events on your phone app remotely you will have to work with the support team to do extra configuration to get access to the local drive.

Oof I haven't had that happen to my cameras yet but if it does I will be switching ecosystems. Last year I think I went into the process of cancelling my subscription and then they offered me a lower rate. ymmv of course

I was about to place the order until I saw there's no SD card slot - it is a subscription trap appearently

Unfortunately it's also not currently compatible with any of the Arlo smarthubs that provides an option for local recording with a micro SD.

Avoid this trash, a bad deal if they were giving it away for free.

I have 4 Pro cameras bought in 2017. Two of them died over the years. The rest two are still working fine, but they stopped recording events captured by the cameras without subscription after the software update in October 2025.
