In the late 90's early 2000's Pioneer 3way 6x9 were top tier entry/mid level speakers. Excellent build quality and Made in Japan I purchased a set later though the years and found everything had diminished. From build quality to sound handling and sound quality. Back then 4 6x9 and a sub gave you a great system. Now a days not so much. Hopefully these are better as they look great

Sadly that happened to too many quality brands also. I still have some old late 90s-00s pioneer 5 1/4" speakers, hertz 6.5 and mtx 4. They all still sound great, hertz and mtx are better than the pioneer in the mid high and clarity quality but that is expected.

Yea I remember those days. These are 2-way, so I wonder if getting the 3-ways are better.

pioneer wasn't that great back then, it was mb quart and alpine for clarity and sounds...
