The 15.3 inch MacBook Air with M4 stands out as a thin, fast everyday laptop with excellent battery life, a great screen, and a good keyboard. The M series chip is described as so capable that active cooling is rarely needed, even though the Air has no fan. The larger 15 inch size also gets praise for strong sound and a roomy feel, with Windows 11 emulation running without issues. The main drawback is the 256 gigabyte SSD, which feels tight for anyone wanting much more storage.

Common Questions (4)

  • It has no active cooling, so it can throttle if it gets too hot. In practice, the M-series chip is fast enough that active cooling is rarely needed for typical everyday workloads.

  • Yes. The battery life is described as amazing and one of the main strengths of the laptop, making it sufficient for most people.

    masterz13ftccodeal

  • Yes. The 15-inch Air is described as having a fantastic screen and a good keyboard, with the display still considered beautiful even compared with MacBook Pro models.

  • It can be limiting if you need a lot of local storage. One comment specifically says 1TB is preferred, which means the 256GB configuration may push buyers toward a more expensive Apple direct order.

FYI, the airs don't have active cooling (it will throttle if the laptop gets too hot).

Correct, however the chipset on these are a monster and you rarely need active cooling.

Active cooling is not required. I have a M1 and M3 air.

This is a fantastic laptop! I've had the Sky Blue 15" M4 w/ 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD since release and I love it. Been on MacOS since the 90s and never going back. I loved the 16" M1 MacBook Pro but it was quite beefy, so I downsized a couple years alter to the 14" MacBook Pro... But earlier this year ended up "downgrading" to the 15" Air and have found it to be perfect for my use case nowadays. It's like the absolute perfect 15" MacBook Pro I've always wanted, but ridiculously thin! The MiniLED screen on the Pros is absolutely gorgeous, but the new Airs still have beautiful screens and the 15" Air has very good sound (I think possibly even slightly better than the 14" Pro, though no one can touch the 16" beast haha). All in all, at $250 off (and 5% cashback using a Prime Visa) this is a fantastic deal and I wouldn't imagine the forthcoming M5 model will be radically different. If you're in the market now, this is a no-brainer for most users. (Even got VmWare Fusionm running Windows 11 Pro emulated no issues).

Costco same day has better deal, but if you have Chase Freedom PayPal is a 5x multiplier for December. Which is another $50 on this deal.
