How does this compare to the AT&T version in terms of unlocking?

Anyone has a real life experience whether the 40 day rule is - you actually have to keep the phone attached to the line for 40 days or you intitially activate then switch back to your old phone.. wait for 40 days (assuming EIP is fully paid) and get unlocked?

I went ahead and rolled the dice and ordered one. Current t-mobile customer maxed out at 10 lines. Opened a new account in my wife's name and then planning on paying the device off, canceling the new account and using the phone on one of our existing t-mobile lines.

2 questions:
1) Will my plan work? Or will t-mobile throw a fit about canceling service for some reason?
2) Anyone know why I am being charged ~$90 in tax? I understand that is how it works when you purchase a device on EIP that has monthly credits or trade-in credits, but this offer is a simple down payment and then $3/month. How can they charge sales tax on an amount that is much higher than the actual sales price?

$35 DCC definitely will be charged. You can try to get it waived via Tforce afterwards but it'll be charged by WM's 3rd party wireless reseller.

i am wondering how this would work as well? would it be to purchase the phone, then cancel it and pay the remaining balance which totals to 299?
