This is a good deal and these boxes do the job. Please keep in mind that their user interface is absolutely atrocious, but you'll learn to deal with it.

Between the one I already have and my AMS 2 Pro, I didn't need a second one of these, right? RIGHT?

Don't do it man... Don't give in.

$7 savings for a bad user interface and questionable durability ...or buy the highly rated SUNLU Filament Dryer Box for $38 instead?

That other one doesn't go high enough for petg, which is my only real need. I was considering the sovol 2 spool dryer for $55 on amazon.

So does the AMS do basically the same thing that this box does?

AMS does better but costs much more. I ordered one of these so I can print from the AMS while drying something externally, and it doesn't require a lot of space, which is tight by my printer.

Just buy a food dehydrator, then you have something that can do multiple things

Too bad they can't get another 10 degrees of heat out of it for more engineering-type filaments

Ended up ordering this one on eBay, not sure if it's a better deal.

SUNLU S1 Plus [amazon.com] but taochaos pointed out a good call out that it only goes up to 55C and not 65C needed for PETG which their newer S2 [amazon.com] now does, but now the price is creeping up to $45 or just go with this Creality version.
