TurboTax is offering any edition of tax software for free if you use and only use their Mobile app and site for filing of 2025 taxes. This is not the TurboTax free product for low income customers but for anyone and any editions of their software.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/perso.../turbotax/

However, there are many caveats:
  1. You must file using their mobile app and site (If you continue or move to the desktop, they'll charge you the full amount)
  2. You must finish filing by Feb. 28, 2026. If you file after that date, they'll charge the full rate.
  3. The free rate only applies to the DIY service. If you opt for the expert products, the free rate will no longer apply.
  4. Must not have used TurboTax products for the 2024 tax filing
Typical Intuit gotchas but if you can work within their limits, you can file your tax for free using the higher end edition of their products.

Haha ..free QA testing their mobile app. Don't mind biting but their last requirement of not being last year customer kills the deal. Thoughtless requirement considering most of their willing testers will already be customers

PSA: You can START in the app, complete the rest on a web browser, then FILE on the app. It doesnt have to be done 100% on the app (i did this last year and it worked)

From the offer details:"If you filed with us last year and try to create a new user account to try to claim this offer, this offer will not apply. Please log out, then sign in using the same credentials you used last year."
If you don't need state, there's always taxhawk.com or olt.com - otherwise, there's cash.app/taxes

Free returns, regardless of your tax situation. Enjoy!

Just download an Android emulator to your computer, and install the mobile app there.

Boom, you used your computer to file but did it via the mobile app.

I recommend BlueStacks, but to each their own.

Re using the app, it seems doable on a Chromebook or like Samsung Dex to have a decent format screen while still meeting the terms.
Some Android phones have desktop mode, not sure if TT will work properly, tho...

Can you provide more context? Why not? Been switching between TurboTax and HR Block. What's the reason not to use TurboTax?

I cannot imagine trying to do my tax return on my phone unless the return is super simple.

Its easy as hell you basically check boxes answer yes or no questions if there is a discrepancy they tell you where to look to confirm information

My fed/state tax returns were over 200 pages last year using Turbo Tax Premier... I'll pass on mobile filing.
You have my condolences.

Is this the equivalent of them buying the rights to your tax return information so that they can then profit by selling it to 3rd parties?

They constantly try to upsell you while they lobby congress to keep the IRS from producing their own free software.

FreeTaxUSA, Cash App Taxes, OLT.com are cheap or free options out there that handle most tax situations with transparent and crystal clear pricing.
