Love Nintendo but they deserve the low sales because of how much they decided to charge for these Switch 2 games. They need to lower it back down to previous levels.

First discount I've seen on the base model that didn't involve gift cards, all the others were for the Mario Kart bundle.

Might become more common. Reports yesterday were that this was the worst November for video game hardware sales in the US in 20 years by dollars spent, and the worst in 30 years by units sold.

They had to come up eventually. Games used to cost $50 20-30 years ago and look how much inflation has happened since then and especially how much game development costs have gone up. One guy used to make a game by himself, now they're like Hollywood studio productions. Look how many people are in the credits for any Mario game these days.

I agree but I also hate the new way they are doing the game cards. Now they are virtual cards with more limitations than before. Plus some game cards are now just digital unlock keys. You still have to download the game. Which will no longer be playable after a certain amount of time in the way the wii U and 3ds estore is now gone. So ive been trying to buy up as many physical games as possible for the Switch. All games that seem interesting to play and are discounted of course, it is SD after all.
Yeah. I get that complaint. That said, I love that I can now sell digital games to friends. No one has really done the best process yet. But for what it is I'm fine with it

But this probably also means the economy is going in the toilet since it was the worst November for video game hardware sales in the US in 20 years by dollars spent, and the worst in 30 years by units sold (not necessarily just for Nintendo), congratulations you have cheaper games but no income to buy them Frown
Haha. Yeah. It'd be nice if over the past 4 decades of record profits across the board we actually got significant raises but alas...

It's the fastest selling console launch of all time, there's no failure here. You're focusing on Nintendo when the point is that the economy as a whole is showing tons of signs that it's absolute shit. One of these is fanboy console war bullshit and the other is a massive farking problem that will affect tens of millions of people.
Yeah. Dude has an Xbox logo in his pfp. Has probably been fighting this war for 40+ years and never made it out šŸ˜†

Games in the 90s were 69-79.99.

One major difference though - games now are really cheap to manufacture (or simply free with digital distribution). 30 years ago, Final Fantasy III cost $70-80 because each game cartridge contained several expensive memory chips. Starfox included its own processor IIRC. Profit margins on these games must be significantly greater.

Is this just a website place holder or something? I'd like to purchase online and do in-store pickup if anyone has any details.
Nope, can't do it. Prob a bait to get you in there. I'm 45 Miles away. I'm not going to drive 2 hours round trip to see if they have it on hand -- it would have to be a sure thing.

I know it's anecdotal but I don't know a single regular person that has a Switch that's bought a Switch 2 yet. And I've only seen 1 kid ever playing one in the wild.
Meanwhile, (before I bought one a couple of weeks ago) I think I'm the last one at work who hadn't already bought a Switch 2. Everyone I know has one.

I'm surprised the Switch 2 didn't debut with an OLED screen since the Switch got one eventually.

This is a move to keep prices under 500. Adding an OLED screen would make it more expensive and could hurt sales.

Part of me thinks it is Nintendo being slimy and hoping that everyone will re-buy when an OLED version comes out like 4 or so years from now, but the other part of me thinks they just did it to keeps costs down. The same people that are whining that this didn't come with an OLED screen are also the same group that would be whining if Nintendo had to raise the cost even further to add one.

Just wait for a sale. It's not that big of a deal
