Can't believe how expensive Rao's sauces are, where this is a "deal"! Then again, I've seen folks shell out $9 or more for a jar of Rao's pasta sauce..!

Tip: You can make any sauce Arrabbiata by simply first sautéing red pepper flakes in olive oil, say with chopped garlic, then continuing with chopped onions and peppers if desired. Then the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, etc (or simply add a prepared Marinara sauce).
Not rocket science!

Is is nowhere near a deal @ 32c/oz
Mezzetta marinara sauce (better than Rao's) can be had for 19c/oz normal price right now. Their "Spicy Marinara Sauce" is equivalent to their Arrabbiata

I buy Rao's sauce sometimes if I see it on sale at Costco, and I think it's ok, but I do not think it warrants the high price it has compared to other sauces. I would never buy it at regular price, not a chance.

I see that the sauce in the OP is a pizza sauce, but $4 for a mere 12 ounces makes this sale price not exactly attractive.

Would that we were at the level of rocket science at this point. Unfortunately, we're at the level of being unable to afford houses & waiting for various products to hit pre-inflation (+10%, who am I kidding) prices just so we can limit the level of poor we feel to 2019 levels. Homemade arrabbiata? Do I look rich to you?? 😂🤣

Want something simpler? Try the famous Hazan 3 ingredient pasta sauce. All you need is a can of whole San marzano tomatoes, butter, and an onion. Peel the onion and cut it in half. Put all three ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 45 minutes. While it's simmering, stir and mash it occasionally with a spoon. Discard the onion and salt to taste. Done, delicious, and cheaper than Rao's.
If you want more flavor, melt the butter in the pan first, add desired spices(red pepper flakes, garlic, peppers, the halved onion, etc...) cook until it smells delicious, then add the other ingredients and simmer.

Get real San marzano tomatoes, not the "San marzano style" tomatoes for best flavor. Costco sells them, for a good price, Wegmans sells a huge 90oz can of higher quality ones (D.O.P. certified, the gold standard) for an even better price.

This is not a deal at all. Don't be duped. That jar is about half the size of a normal one.

Just buy the Rao's at Costco when it goes on sale and use it for pizza.

Correct; gf just brought home a 2-pack of 32oz marinara from Costco for $9 (on sale down from $12). Maybe this is typically more expensive? Not sure, but compared to their others sauces this is over 2x the price even at $4.

Carbone Spicy Vodka, I keep these in the pantry for when we run out of my wife's homemade sauce & the kids want something fast, it's pretty decent imo for a jarred sauce, it's also on sale at target

They're different sauces (this one vs. the 24/32 oz. varieties).

This isn't the "normal" Rao's sauce. It's pizza sauce....not pasta sauce. Focus on the description. I'm not opining on the price (which may not be that great)....but you're not making a fair comparison, as they're two different products.

Their marinara sauce works great for pizzas and it's way cheaper.
